The readings for each unit of the Springboardwebsite are stored in Adobe Acrobat ".pdf" format. The readings you can download in this format are of higher quality and readibility than would otherwise be possible from a web browser.
In order to download the readings, you must have the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. This software requires about 8MB of disk space and around 4MB of memory in order to run. The exact amount depends on the system you are using.
Downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader
You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader by clicking on this icon. (If you wish to keep this page in view, right click, or for Macintosh, hold down your mouse button and select "Open this link in another window.")
The Reader is also available from other sources, including most of the free CD-ROMs that come with computer magazines.
Linking the Software to your Web Browser
Acrobat Reader comes with a "plug-in" which needs to be installed in
your browser's plug-in folder or directory to allow Acrobat to
display the downloaded file inside your browser window. You will need
to quit and restart your browser before clicking on the Reading
button. Clicking on the Reading button will then display the reading,
which you can print out or save to disk using the standard menu
items.

Reading the SpringboardReadings on Screen With Adobe Acrobat Reader
After you have downloaded and installed Adobe Acrobat Reader, you are ready to click on a Reading button to access a SpringboardWebsite Reading. (At this point, on a Macintosh platform, you may get an error message. If this occurs, select pick appand then find and double click on Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you have put in your browser's plug-in folder.)
If, after clicking on Reading, nothing appears on the screen and you get no indication of error, the Reading has probably been downloaded to another place. Use the Find utility to look for the Reading. The Readings will have file names READ101.PDF, READ102.PDF, READ103.PDF, etc. After you have found it, open the file and the Reading should open in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Printing the SpringboardReadings With Adobe Acrobat Reader
Once the Reading appears on your screen, whether in your browser window or in an Adobe Acrobat Reader window, you can print by selecting Print from the File menu.
If printing does not take place and you receive the error messages "A postscript error has occurred," the problem may be your printer settings. The next time you print, in the Print dialog box, make sure that background printing is off and only foreground printing is selected.
If printing is taking a very long time, insufficient memory may be the problem. Quit your browser to save memory. Search for the Reading file you want and open it independently.
